Land of the Nipigon Waterways Development Association
The Land of the Nipigon Waterways Development Association invites visitors to our community to take a walk along the hiking trail that links the communities of Nipigon and Red Rock.
The trail begins at the Nipigon Marina and ends on the Red Rock Road just before the first set of train tracks.
The first part of the trail is gravelled and flat which makes for easy walking. Those who take this walk along the river have several options to choose from. A short 20-minute walk from the Nipigon Marina via Clearwater Creek back to the Marina, to a more lengthy stroll to Sawmill Point on the Nipigon Bay which takes approximately 45 minutes.
For those who are more adventurous, the trail continues along the bay past Sawmill Point to the new 70-foot walking bridge across Stillwater Creek. Upstream from the bridge, beaver dams and the occasional beaver at work can be seen. Those that reach the Stillwater Bridge may return via an alternate route through the bush.

Le sentier débute à la marina de Nipigon et prend fin sur le chemin Red Rock, juste avant la première voie ferrée.
La première partie du sentier est plate et revêtue de gravier, ce qui facilite la marche. Plusieurs options s’offrent aux marcheurs : entre autres, une courte marche de 20 minutes à partir de la marina de Nipigon jusqu’au ruisseau Clearwater puis de retour à la marina, ou une randonnée plus longue jusqu’à la pointe Sawmill sur la baie de Nipigon, d’une durée d’environ 45 minutes.
Les plus aventuriers peuvent continuer de suivre le sentier le long de la baie après la pointe Sawmill, jusqu’à la nouvelle passerelle longue de 70 pieds, au-dessus du ruisseau Stillwater. En amont de la passerelle, on peut apercevoir digues de castor et, parfois, un castor à l’œuvre. On peut ensuite retourner à travers la zone forestière.
